Were did all the talent and good guitarists go?
Can someone please explain to me why every time I go to a show No one impresses me? Oh wait. I can already decide that!
Simply because the talent these days is merely gone. Its been chewed up by many, and spread all over the fret board making guitarists sound so fast and distorted its..."Distorted". I mean, I understand the whole entire world is slowing dying but, why should the music we listen to slowly die as well. I mean check out a lot of the bands, take the time listen to them i mean some of them are acutally dam GOOD but some are just..YIKES. then ask yourself this. "why is music so easily put together by idiots who think there smart, finger tapping is cool ya sure, but what happen to passion, and emotion and spirit and the actual involvement in make music effective towards, lets say today's youth. Oh ya! that's right, because today's youth is FUCKED! Yes I said it. FUCKED, Royally. I mean screaming, into the mic is actually more anticipated than an actual talented singer like lets say. Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin or who do i know from this age. OK lets say the Pearl Jam Singer. I'm sorry i don't know his name. those men. had fucking Talent. they went up on stage with REAL stuff not some mindlessly thrown together dick ass metal music that takes literally 10 seconds for an infant child to cry to.

Anyways. Point is, if anyone can show me a band with some decency, meaning, talent, straight up TALENT... no crap on a stick mindless thrown together shit.
.
Thanks

what is it? your band didnt win and the metal bands did? and now your frustrated. grow up kid. bands that you dont listen to or dont like dont nessecarily suck. no one is pointing a gun at your head to force you to listen to it. As for the guitarist, i dont understand why you say the talent is gone. I go to local shows on a regualar basis and i always find at least one guitarist that stands out in his/her personality and way to aproach his/her intrument. you can tap and be passionate at the same time just as you would by pulling off a sick bluesy lick.
YES! led zep and pearl jam had talent. but YOU cannot say todays bands have none. wait im think OPETH, those guys have talent in every aspect of things. Mikael Åkerfeldt sings clean like no other and yet pulls off some screams/growls like any other metal vocalist out there. As for the guitars..as varied as the vocals. fast and slow, distorted or not. Its a mood transimition. You music reflects the message your trying to give. they might not be in the NEWEST generation of metal but i thought they were a good example.
other example..would you consider dream theater a bad band because petrucci plays fast? OF course not! weather you like them or not..the talent is there.

other example; this band i dont like much but when i saw them live....#@%!#@!. BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE. The guitars are TIGHT! its not annoying or anything. THEY put on an excelent show. THEY have talent yet they dont fit in your description of it.

I could go on like this naming bands new and old that are worth the respect of everyone who plays music. Young guitarists tend to put more distortion than they need, it helps cover the flaws...but they will fix it in time, let them take experience. Dont be so negative about the music you dont like. Eventually it will bit you in the ass. As for screamer, dont judge, you dont know these people, it might be an artistic choice, and it is far from easy to do those types of vocals for a whole set.

OH BESIDES, i listened to your band, and this is the resaon i wrote all this, Do you really think yourself supirior? honestly, to me you sound like just any other highschool band. Your not the next LED ZEP, better give that some thought. consentrate that energy you have on improving your playing.( not saying you suck btw) and let other have their fun.

LAST BIT OF ADVICE; go sit with those bunch of guitartists you hate so much and jam with them, you might learn a leason of humility. stop comlaining.

Sorry to break it to you, but until proven wrong, your just another regular jackoff.

I totally get what your saying and i thank you for writing a huge paragraph.
I'm not saying anything negative or I'm not even trying to drill anyone, and I can't believe how offended you sounded when I didn't even mean the slightest hate. I was just asking a simple question.
Where did all the talent go.

lets rephrase.

actually no I'm to lazy to type down this huge argument.

its just the fact that the type of talent that i see isn't as good as lets say, the olden day music.
im just sad to hear that there isnt gonna be a new band or a new guitarist or drummer who will out do all other bands with there super amazing skills
lets take Jimi Hendrix as an example.
He was talented.
lets take my guitarist and your bands guitarist and compare them to him.
We suck compared to him.
simple like that.
I didn't mean for anything to kick start ur anger so sorry if I angered you.
Im just tired of seeing the same old crazy hardcore musicians who some, i am scared of cuz they are scary looking, playing the same old music. They don't suck. I just think that it is kind of sad that the human race of guitar talent is sinking lower and lower.
back in the day it was all about passion.
nowa days passion isn't as noticeable. since everyone is acting angry on stage and that's the "in" thing.
i get how today's youth is. and its sad.

point is.
we wont find any decent guitarist for a long time. and my mission is to be found as the next big thing. i work hard as a guitarist and thanks for totally dissing my band saying were just another high school band. I appreciate your comments.
Sadly i couldn't bare your band for ten seconds, only because that isnt my type of music, i dont want to sit down and listen to something that makes me feel like stabbing my little cuzins baby rabbits.
lol. sorry. im just a regular jerk off. until proven wrong

oh and by the way.

we don't think of ourselves superior.
we just get on stage, play, and get off.
nothing superior about that.

and all this is opinion. no hate belongs in this topic.
peace.

I'm tired of these classic rock elitists that don't understand metal and the new forms of music because they are too ignorant to even listen to it seriously instead of just going "ZOMFG SCREAMING ITS EMOOOO..." "OR OMFGG WHAT IS HEE SAYING..." its just bullshit if you were a true musican you would realise vocals or screams are another form of instrument that adds to the music. And yes it does take skill to scream try doing it for 30 seconds... You'll kill your throat now imagine doing that for 1 hour a night it takes lots of skill.

There is more talent now than there ever has before when Van Halen came out guitarists thought it was almost impossible to play there material and now 11 year old guitarists can do Eurption easily... Just because they aren't generic classic rock bend solos doesn't mean there isn't beauty and passion in music. Listen to the solo in Selkies: The Endless Obsession by Between the Buried and Me for example the ending solo is ridiculously passionate and beautiful and its all sweep picking (a technique used in metal often) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgmtmjtmAwU

To say there aren't gonna be any new guitar legends or drummers is just stupid... Jimmi Hendrix was great and amazing a true legend, but look at all the guitarists that are amazing today ill name a bunch off the top of my head; John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paul Waggnor, Dimebag Darrell (RIP), and a majority of guitarists in progressive metal bands are just amazing that create beautiful melodic solos.

I disagree and agree with you on the comment that some kids just play agressively because its an "in" thing but honestly around 80% of kids hate that music.. But they might just trying to be non conformists by wearing girl pants, going on stage playing open notes, and having double bass blasting... I respect the music from the past because well if it wasn't for Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, and many more bands we wouldn't have progressed this far to what forms of music we have now. It just I get sick when every kid in highschool wants to start a classic rock band and play stuff that was played 30 years ago... Why not make something new...? Instead of living in the past and trying to emulate other bands...

the hate stems from the fact that this is a site FULL of musicians. for musicians, about musicians. and you basically just caleld everyone belonging to this community, awful.

so having said that, you are probably just listening to the wrong music. there are plenty of players out there in all genres doing great stuff and doing it because they love it and that comes through in their playing.

anyways, maybe stop putting everyone up on a pedestal and comparing them to the so-called 'greats' and you would see the depth of talent in today's music scene. not everyone can or even WANTS to be a hendrix or a shredder...

wake up dude.

I honestly didn't mean for anyone to get angry or anything like that, and NO I do not hate or want to kill all of the music in today's world. Because like I said some of the bands are actually good! They have exactly what it takes to be the best and YES they are talented and skilled. However what I dislike is bands that I see that are completely TRASH, like whoa ohmygod guys they suck and need some serious help. But see when I say this, opinion comes into play. I get that everyone likes there stuff and what not, but when i say shit i mean like, mindless screaming and plainly crazy shyt that is just awful. I mean WOW please stop yelling. Thats what i mean when theres NO passion or feeling. its FUCKing crazy blood music that is messed. Mosh pits are ok, but that just proves my point on how the music has changed and why I dont really like the Anger and Hate that lots of music portrays.

Before it use to be about playing your heart out and the audience would just smile and dance and love there life at the same time.
Now its like "ALL RIGHT GET READDYY YAAAAAAAAA drop D YAAAA STRUMMM RIFFF CRAZYYY"
I know lots of you understand what im trying to say.

My second point is this. The talent part. let me explain in detail.
Guitarists nowadays are pretty mediocre but the guitarist's i speak of are the ones who are very known and popular.
Now ask yourself this. The one's who are epic, epically talented aren't even known or popular heck, in my opinion there hasn't been a epically talented anything in years. But how can i even say that without knowing the entire population of the world.
This is what I would like people to understand. The popular bands these days that get all the fame and "teen" girls ...are complete idiots. Supreme guitarists don't even get the respect they deserve for mastering the century old instrument.

Basically my point was to just get alot of ppl talking. not to make everyone hate me

anyways peace out dudes!

this is a good, touchy subject where us guitarists can come and speak behind our screen in an argument over whos better/best. lets cut to the chase. yes, jimi hendrix was an amazing guitarist and many people have argued that no other guitarist will come to his standards. but OH wait. theres an entire CLASS of guitarists who have shown exceptional talent when it comes to legato licks, alternate picking/shred and 10 finger tapping, this being the G3 guitarists. yes, if you go to local shows, you probably won't see a guitarist who stands out, but think of it. how many people are in this world, how many bands exhist, and compare that to the number of guitarists that you could possibly use as examples for past and present talent. a guitarist isn't hard to come by. anyone can pick up a guitar and learn after a couple months how to play it properly. the hard part is finding one thats dedicated. my example, buckethead. he wears a KFC bucket and a marti-gras emotionless mask on his head. all the time. he doesn't speak. ever. it sounds dumb? you think he's a joke? look him up, hes on the new guns'n roses cd. hes on guitar hero two. but listen to some of his more soulful music too. cruel reality of nature, soothsayer, big sur moon, the entire 'colma' album. you want shred? youtube his live guitar solos. what im saying is, music still lives on, guitarists still play. i know i do.

Anyone who thinks that today's music can even hold a candle to the great artist of the 60s or 70s is mental. The last hiccup of rock and roll was the 90s grunge moment groups like pearl jam Alice in chains blind melon were great artists and Manny other copied what they were doing great music was coming out all the time they slowly all died off and a wave of bad music followed. hopefully this trend continues and a new wave of great band will come out. The biggest bands out now (the play real rock music) are White stripes, Billie talent and other bad EMO bands. Listen to the rock music of the 70s Deep Purple Thin lizzy Johnny winter Boston Aerosmith etc and judge for yourself. Well your at it listen to some of our stuff that we have posted we try to play a wide variety of music that is taken from band like almond brother and Lenard skynerard
