Sandy promoted his first
concert while in high school in 1992 under the name Supernova. After earning his
BA and MBA, he continued to grow the business into what it is today. Supernova
Concerts produces 300 North American concerts each year and is focused on giving
indie talent a chance to play live for free. A second arm of the company,
Supernova Interactive has recently launched its new social networking site that
allows music lovers to bring the concert experience online. Other recent
successes include launching an artist management company and a merchandising
company. Sandy was also involved in co-founding 120 Church Street and Club
Rockit/Speakeasy; a three storey restaurant and live events venue in downtown
Toronto, Canada, and Machinehead Studio; a professional recording studio in
Toronto, Canada. Outside of the music industry, Sandy acted as a
strategic consultant to the Canadian Booksellers Association in building their
online presence and database.
